# Short description {% embed url="" %} ## Adding metafield definition Before you can add Short description(metafield value) to specific products, you need to add the necessary metafield definition for this information. 1. From your Shopify admin, go to **Settings** > **Custom data** > **Products**
2. Click **Add definition**
3. In the **Name** field, enter `Short description`
4. Click **Select type** then select **Single line text** 5. Click **Save** to save the definition.**.**
6. You should see the **Collection image** in the list of definitions by now.
## Setting the Short description 1. In your admin, click on the Products you want to add the short description.
2. Scroll down to the **Metafields.** You should see the **Short description** here. 3. Click **Save** to save your changes.
