"Number of columns on desktop" is to customize the column on the desktop screen. You can show a minimum of “3” and a maximum of “6” products.

Adding metafield definition
Before you can add Meta collection list(metafield value) to specific collections, you need to add the necessary metafield definition for this information
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Custom data > Collections
Click Add definition
In the Name field, enter
Meta collectionsIn the Namespace and key field, enter
custom.meta_collections
Click Select type then select Collection.
than select List of collections.
Click Save to save the definition
You should see the Meta collections in the list of definitions by now
Setting the Collection image
In your admin, within Collections, click on the collection you want to add the Meta collection list.
Scroll down to the Metafields. You should see the Meta collections here
To select collections, click on the Meta collections field.
Click Save to save your changes.
